Emily Smith

Female Adult Hound (Unknown Type) (mixed)

Good with dogs: Yes, with proper intros Good with cats: Yes Good with kids: Yes, older children Crate trained: Yes House trained: Yes Em... show more

Good with dogs: Yes, with proper intros Good with cats: Yes Good with kids: Yes, older children Crate trained: Yes House trained: Yes Emily is an eager-to-please girl with funny quirks. She is a fast learner and wants to please her people. Emily’s perfect home is one that will give her a chance to settle in. She loves other dogs and cats and would do well to have a playmate her size. Being with other dogs allows Emily to learn the appropriate behaviors for that home. She will likely do best with dogs her size since she is unaware of her own size and space. She tends to be timid at first and when she is in her timid state, she may snap at other dogs. However, as she starts to warm up, she becomes overly eager to say hi and will get in other dogs' faces. Once the dogs establish their boundaries she is an excellent playmate and enjoys tug-of-war, running and wrestling. Emily has been gentle with children, but because of her size, she could accidentally knock over a small child. She doesn’t go into her crate willingly but will follow treats inside easily. Once in, she settles if her family is in the same room, but may whine if she can hear people elsewhere in the house. She does not have accidents inside it. She is something of an escape artist and sees jumping 4 foot fences as an enjoyable sport, so care should be taken to keep her safe. She is fully house trained and is an absolute dream on the leash! Age:  2 yrs Weight: 50 lbs. Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Heavens Tabetsy

Female Adult Hound (Unknown Type) (mixed)

Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: No Good with kids: No Crate trained: Yes House trained: Mostly Heavens Tabetsy (who goes by “Tabby”) is one of the sweetest and most affectionate dogs you will ever meet. She is also one of the shyest, as she gets very scared around new people and places. Tabby’s first instinct is to run away from what she is scared of, but if that is not an option, she will freeze and occasionally go to the bathroom out of fear. However, once she is comfortable with you, Tabby acts like a normal playful puppy and will shower you with kisses and cuddles! Tabby takes a few hours to warm up to a new person and about a week to become fully comfortable. She gets very attached to her people and tries to stay as close as possible around the house. She loves attention and will remind you with some hilariously uncoordinated pawing! Tabby is very playful and absolutely loves other pups! She is most comfortable around other dogs, and she will need a home with at least one confident pup to help show her the ropes. When she is not playing, Tabby is very calm inside and will relax next to her person or in her crate. The crate is her safe space and she is always happy to spend time there. Tabby is fully leash trained and is looking for an adopter who will continue to expose her to new situations. She might never warm up immediately to new people, but she is already making great progress learning that the world is not so scary! Tabby is a special girl, and if you give her time to warm up, the affection and gratitude she gives in return will make you fall madly in love. Age: 3 years Weight: 50 lbs. Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Good with kids: Yes, older children Crate trained: Working on it House trained: Working on it Junior is an energetic fellow that just loves to cuddle and play. He likes to chew on toys (and really anything he can sink his teeth into, so put those shoes in the closet). His signature move is rolling over on his back when in your lap, then jumping up and running out some zoomies. His perfect household is active and loving. Junior does great on a leash, though sometimes pulls out of sheer excitement, and loves to walk with other dogs. (He also loves to play wrestle and chase them.) Junior is working on crate training and potty training -- he's inconsistent, but with a little practice and patience he'll surely catch on. Junior is high energy and tends to jump; he is already working on learning better manners, but for the moment could knock a small child over by accident. Junior is a sweet ball of energy and will be a fantastic addition to a lucky family. Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website.   Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Yes, with dog savvy cats Good with kids: Yes, older children Crate trained: Yes House trained: Mostly Kenya is a 1 year old lab mix who is super sweet but is very timid and shy. She gets nervous in new situations but once she learns to trust her people and gets comfortable she is a whole different dog. She must have at least one dog savvy dog in her forever home that loves to run and play with her. A home without small children (under 10) is ideal for her. She knows sit, lay down and paw, she has an accident here and there but is really good at going outside to potty now. A fenced in yard or a dog run is a must for her in her new forever home. She is fully crate trained and is very quiet in her crate. She loves to be the center of attention, loves belly rubs and loves to cuddle up on the bed after a days play with her foster brother. She is treat motivated. She is working on her leash training as when she gets nervous she tries to pull and go inside. Cars don't bother her anymore. She barely barks. All she needs is time and patience to show her family how amazing she really is. Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. Good with dogs: Yes, with proper intros  Good with cats: Unknown, likely no Good with kids: Yes, older children Crate trained: Yes House trained: Working on it KyeKye is a very energic puppy that is willing and eager to learn. She is crated-trained and eats in her crate happily. Kyekye is still a puppy and learning basic skills; she knows sit and is working on the "stay" command. She is being trained on a transitional leash to help with her pulling habits and to contain her over-excitement towards humans and other dogs. KyeKye is very sweet and loves attention but she is easily over-excited. She is still learning to not use her teeth when she doesn't get what she wants. She needs a home that is willing to provide her with structure and discipline, continue her training and work with her on her behaviors. Kye would do best in a home with older children; 16+. She would need slow intros to other dogs as she can be overwhelming. KyeKye is working on self-soothing and building confidence and she can be a little needy. With the right home that is willing and committed to continue Kye's training, I think she will make a family very happy!   Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Good with kids: Yes, older children Crate trained: Working on it House trained: Yes Special Adoption Opportunity! --- Kylie is a playful, sweet lady who loves to lay by her human's side, play in the yard, and be with her foster siblings. Kylie has been up north since January, and she is a totally different dog these days. She is timid and anxious around new people and in new situations, but give her time and share some cheese and she'll warm up to you- and others- in no time. She is very gentle, house trained, listens great and does well with routine! She gets along great with other dogs- they play, share toys, and Kylie follows them around a lot. Kylie loves being around her house mates so much, so she is still working a bit on her separation anxiety in the crate. She can be left for several hours at a time but may bark. She will need continued training to settle in the crate, even when her humans are around, and will likely be a better fit for a home where she won’t bother neighbors. She likes walks but is still getting used to being on a leash in noisy areas. Having a yard would be pretty ideal! Kylie has so much love to give, and with just a little patience she will be sure to shower you with it. She can’t wait to meet her FURever family. ---Kylie is currently undergoing Heartworm treatment and while she has finished the bulk of it, she does have some minor medical care to complete. She is available for a medical foster who will eventually adopt her once she is medically cleared. All medical costs during this treatment are covered by LHK9. Any potential adopter would need to be available to take her to Heal Veterinary Clinic in Watertown for monthly blood tests until she is all clear. Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT Good with dogs: Yes, with proper intros Good with cats: No Good with kids: Yes, older children Crate trained: Working on it House trained: Yes Lexi is a beautiful senior girl who is very sweet, loves to be near her humans and curl up next to you for a cuddle. She can be nervous in new situations and may want to run or hide, so she should be considered a flight risk until she settles in. She is house trained, takes time to settle in her crate and pulls on the leash, so she'll need basic training and structure for confidence building. Lexi loves car rides and running, she most likely would be a great hiking partner. She gets along good with other dogs with proper intros, but can get very excited, she would do best in a pet free home and while Lexi has been great with children, we suggest older children only. Lexi is motivated to learn and would make a confident pack leader a great companion! Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. Name: Lilac (Female) Breed: Pointer mix Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT Good with dogs: Yes, with proper intros Good with cats: No Good with kids: No Crate trained: Yes House trained: Yes Lilac is a sweet, lazy girl who is looking for a quiet home where she can play some fetch and then curl up in the dog bed and take a nap (her two favorite things). Lilac is wonderful with other dogs when properly introduced, and she loves to play. She would love a fenced yard to romp in. She can be leash reactive to new dogs, and though she has improved with training, this will always be something she needs to work on. For this reason, proper intros are a must with her.  She is also ecollar trained. so her perfect home would continue this training with her. She excels with structure and routine. Where Lilac still struggles greatly is with meeting new people in the home. Outside the home, and even a the vet, she is generally fine. When people that she does not know very very well come into the home, Lilac should be crated, leashed, or muzzled. She needs to be slowly introduced to new people, but once she gets to know you very very well, she's all in and is the kissiest, snuggliest girl.  She is even very sweet to pretty much everyone while muzzled, so that's an easy fix to keep her safe.  When people she does not know come into the home, she has an angry bark/growl but when introduced while muzzled she does fine.  Because of her reactivity to new people, a single family home is the best fit for her. She would not do well in an apartment. Lilac has had a long road, and while she has come a long way, she is very much still a work in progress. With the right family she will do just fine. Lilac's issues have happened in the past when her intros to new people coming into the home were not controlled (once, my contractor came in my back door while we were in the living room, and another time, my dog walker let her out of her crate after I advised her not to). So I can't emphasize enough that she needs to take it slow with new people :) But she will reward you for sure once you get to know her. Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT Good with dogs: Yes, with proper intros Good with cats: Unknown Good with kids: Yes, older children Crate trained: Yes House trained: Mostly Loki is a highly affectionate pup who craves human attention. He would thrive in household where he would be the only dog or has other calm, male dog siblings. Loki is a dog who can do both: he's active when his family wants to be active, but at heart he's a very lazy pup who just wants to snuggle. His favorite thing is belly rubs until he falls asleep. Loki has basic commands down, and would thrive with additional training. He is comfortable on a leash, though sometimes pulls. He goes to his crate willingly and settles once comfortable. Loki is new to potty training and still needs some help. He also tends to resource guard -- once he's found a toy he likes he will only let go in exchange for a treat. He can be stubborn, but he has never been aggressive over toys or food. Loki is good with older children, but he's a strong dog so might be a bit much for the smaller ones. Loki is a very good boy looking for a family who will give him a a spot on the sofa, a ball, and all of the treats! Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Her ideal home will be a stable, structured environment with a safe yard for energetic play. Maxine is an exceptionally athletic and eager playmate who will require a good throwing arm for her favorite pastime! She is a devoted dog who thrives under a caring, committed and confident master.
