Abby is a very loving and loyal girl. Last year she lost her kennel mate and has been so sad. She thrives on attention and is a very energetic girl. Abby loves splashing around in her swimming pool, too! Abby does well with submissive males. Active home would be good, but should would also enjoy lazing around in someone’s lap. As long as she has attention, she’s happy. She would do best with older children because she has a tendency to jump up and she’s pretty stout. She would do well with children of any age besides that. If she gets taught her manners, any age child would not be an issue at all. She has stayed in crates before without any problems. She does not mess them up. She will also stay in a utility room or bathroom without messing them up. She whined a little while but then settled. Abby is  shy and scared in new situations so should be considered a flight risk.  Abby just longs for attention and wants to be at someone’s side as much as possible. She is energetic and needs to be able to work off some of that energy. She is so loving and has the most beautiful eyes.  Age: 7 years Weight: 60 lbs. Aloysius Snuffleupagus (aka) GusGus had a rough start to life. He overcame mange, an eye removal and heartworm treatment, but  he has come such a long way. He doesn’t let his eyesight bother him at all, in fact he loves to romp around and play any chance he gets! He’s always loved his furry friends but now also realizes that humans are can be some of his best companions though he still gets nervous around men. He is startled by loud noises and can be timid in unfamiliar places, but he’s come leaps and bounds and isn’t the same super shy boy sitting in the shelter. He’s currently enrolled in daycare and has a blast hanging with is fur friends all day long. He enjoys playtime, walks and most of all endless snuggles and treats. He would thrive in a home with another pup for him to play with and to help continue to build his confidence. He also gets along with cats.   Age: 1.5 years Weight: 35 lbs. Are you ready to meet your perfect dog, Argo? Well, only perfect if you like a dog that will play and be goofy (with you and with other dogs), is housetrained, likes the water, looks at you like you are the best thing in the world, chills with you on the sofa, and sleeps quietly in either his crate or on a doggie bed at the foot of your bed. Argo is that perfect guy. He’s the sweetest, most affectionate and loyal dog and will make someone the most perfect companion. Is it you? He is great with other dogs, slightly submissive but not overly, and takes his cue from other dogs. He loves a good chew and will chill with his foster siblings and enjoy a marrow bone or horn. He enjoys a romp in our neighborhood lake. He is super easy in the car, just sits and watches out the window. He is gentle on a leash, but will still need a little leash work to stay right next to you with distractions. One of his favorite places to hang out while I work (from home) is on the sofa ottoman looking out the front window to see what is going on in the neighborhood. He does alert bark when he spies a person or a dog walking by. Argo knows some basic commands – will sit for his food, and knows the sit command with voice or hand, knows down (lie down) and has the funniest, cutest shake! He was doing a lot of jumping up on me when he first arrived, so we have worked hard on stopping that. He absolutely LOVES animal crackers and will learn almost anything to get that glorious treat! He inhales his food like he is never going to see another meal, sohe uses a slow feeder food bowl. He still eats quickly – but it definitely helps slow him down. Are you the perfect person or family for this perfect dog? Age: 2 years Weight: 50 lbs. Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. Babe is a young lab who is outgoing and friendly with lab energy. She loves to play especially fetch, but is also calm and settles in all night. She knows sit and stay but does have a short attention span. Babe would love a home where she can spend time a couple times a day freely running. She gets along with all dogs and "inside" cats as well as kids. She may try to chase "outside" cats and other outside critters but her foster is working with her to break this habit. She is not a fan of the crate. She puts up with it for short times but she sleeps gated in the living area at night. She is working on housetraining and currently using pee peds.  Babe is a sweet, playful, wonderful girl. She needs some time each day to run and play and get her energy out and then she is perfectly content to lay her head in your lap and have her ears rubbed.  Age: 1 years Weight: 68 lbs. This big guy hasn’t had a great life. He was adopted from a rescue when he was around 2 and the woman kept him outside alone for about 4 to 4 1/2 years. Then one day she decided that he was too much trouble and she surrendered him to us. He’s around 6-7 years old and loves to go on walks. We are working on him not pulling while leashed. Big Boy would do great in a home that could let him run or take him on walks to burn some of his energy out. He will chill out and likes to get belly rubs too! Big Boy is good with dogs with slow intros but NO cats. Older children would be best because he’s a big boy and could knock them down while running or playing. He will occasionally hang out in his crate but not very much, he settles down very quick and nice when crated. He should be considered a flight risk because he can escape over fences.  Age: 7 years Weight: 77 lbs. Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at http://www.lasthopek9.org/  Questions? Brace is shy and skittish at first but warms up fairly quickly and will be your shadow. He sticks right with you every where you go. He cowers down at loud noises or sudden movements but is getting better. He gets along well with other dogs and usually does okay in a crate. Brace would do best somewhere with a fenced in yard he can run and play in. He does okay walking on a leash but prefers to be in an open yard. He loves dogs and has hung out at the dog grooming shop with his foster mom with no issues with any of the dogs that have come in. He’s curious of them and will run to greet them. He doesn’t like to potty on a leash. If you put him in a fenced yard he runs out and immediately does his business. On Leash walks he holds it and sometimes completely refuses. He has been good about pooping outside but still pees every once in a while inside. He should be considered a flight risk as he is extremely timid in new situations.  Age: 1 year Weight: 50 lbs. Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted.
